Dubai, UAE,  Travel With Love,  Unique Vegetarian Dining Options in Dubai

Ayubowan Restaurant, Dubai

We were totally exhausted after the water sport activities at JBR. We really had to relax for a while, and we actually didn’t do anything the rest of the day. We luckily hadn’t booked any other activities that day.

Before travelling I did a research on Sri Lankan restaurants in Dubai, and Ayubowan Restaurant turned out to be the best Sri Lankan restaurant, so I had booked a table for dinner on the 3rd day before travelling.

Except the water sports I had booked everything else for our trip, to make sure to not make any mistakes. Ayubowan is placed among the Jumeirah Lake Towers. It is a nice place, and was a bit quite during evening/night. Ayubowan is a Sinhalese word meaning “hello”.

The restaurant has a very good selection of traditional Sri Lankan food. All the popular items are to be found. I ordered a vegetarian kottu with a cold, delicious Milo. The first time I tried Milo was during a trip to Singapore in 1998. Both the cold and the hot variety of Milo is so yummy, and I got a cup of Milo almost every day during my holiday in Singapore. Later the Milo product became available in local Tamil stores in Denmark too. You can buy a tin with powdered Milo, which you mix into a cup of hot water or milk. But this doesn’t taste the same as the one you get in restaurant, and I don’t know why. Having a cold glass of Milo in Dubai was exactly the same experience like the one in Singapore; it was like going back to that childhood memory. Haha 😛

My veg kottu was very good. It was as spicy as a Sri Lankan kotthu has to be – very spicy, and so tasty. I loved it!

The staff at Ayubowan is very kind and talkative. There is nothing to critize about the service too. Also the prices are fair and affordable. A must visit restaurant, if you want some really good and spicy food that’s not expensive 😉
